Black Friday

What is it going to take for people to realize how shopping is destroying us? Will it be the huge debt that many Americans have? Will it be seeing someone spit in the face of a retailer who tells them they do not have the video game console their child wants? Will someone have to die?

Someone did. In a most heinous scene at a Long Island WalMart, a poor soul's life was extinguished by a frenzied crowd rushing into to buy cheap televisions and video games. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081128/ap_on_re_us/wal_mart_death

Is this the spirit of the holidays? Is this how civilized people act? What will people in countries that have no access to clean water and basic comforts think about something as outrageous as a death caused by a rush for flat screen televisions?

This was truly a Black Friday. Let us pray it does not happen again.

  1. This is truly a shame!
I just watched this story on the news and I am in shock!

It IS black Friday in every sense of the word. I am ashamed of big box shoppers right now. Trampled to death? I just can't wrap my head around that. My heart goes out to his family!

  2. Yikes... I feel so bad for that poor walmart employee. And what could you want to purchase so badly that you'd be willing to TRAMPLE someone to get it? :oP
