You Go, Jackson Browne.

Eco-friendly celebrities warm my heart. While owning a huge gas guzzling Hummer and having a newly constructed 5,000+ square foot palatial mansion in Beverly Hills may have once been the norm, it seems that tree hugging celebrities who are trying to conserve resources and go green are on the rise. And when you have millions of dollars to spend, investing in all of the newest green technologies is as quick 'n easy as writing a (large) check! Plus, they can cash in on the tax credits they get for purchasing their new Prius's, which they can keep right next to their 2009 Hummers in the garage. (Do I sound cynical? Naaah...)

Anyways - for better or worse, I'd like to give a shout out to celebrities who are trying to do something to help the environment. On that note, I'd have to say that musician Jackson Browne is arguably one of the greenest celebs out there. Jackson's house is 100% off the grid. His home is powered by solar and wind energy. For heat, he has a wood burning stove. For water, a well. And for eggs, he has chickens. (Great idea! I want chickens too - but that's another post.) I wonder if he also has a composting toilet?

JB's house was recently featured on that "Living With Ed" show on the Planet Green channel, which is all about TV star Ed Begley, Jr. and his eco-friendly lifestyle. Did anyone out there see that episode? I've never actually seen the show, but it sounds very neat. I'll have to look into whether or not we get Planet Green... does that come with regular cable? Hmmm...

  1. Hey, I never knew that about him - very cool! It is nice to see people in the spotlight that really care. As for the Planet Green channel - it is great. Living with Ed, just ok. There are only so many times you can hear his wife say how embarrassed she is by the eco stuff he does. I bet the Jackson Browne episode was cool though! I like the WASTED show, where people are shown how much they waste and how to clean up their act!
